Tonight we are camped, after a long day driving, at the Yellowstone Valley Inn in beautiful Wapiti, Wyoming right on the bank of the Sheshone River...about 30 miles outside the East Entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
To get here we drove across Wyoming, leaving Devil's Tower about 10am this morning heading West on 16. We crossed the Big Horn Mountains driving through Big Horn National Forest which was absolutely spectacular. Beautiful mountain range, highest road point being Powder River Pass at 9,666 ft. We stopped and played in the snow! Then we got to go down those steep, windy roads in the RV...and yes, a 25 MPH switchback does mean 25 MPH!!
After that a pretty straight shot into Cody, Wyoming the Rodeo capital of the world...Emily you would love it!! Cowboys everywhere:) Saw a gun fight in the street and got the heck outta town!
From Cody, it is a short 20 mile, incredible drive through the Sheshone River Canyon to get here. Breathtaking scenery...even after being on the road all day.
Am looking forward to new adventures in Yellowstone tomorrow...
