We had a long day driving but have made it to our destination in Willows, CA. We are staying at a really nice Motel 6. It is twice as nice as the one in Carpinteria and less than half the price...go figure. Once we got off the coast today, the weather took a turn for the better. It was about 60* and foggy and kind of misting on the coast and inland it is blue skys and 80+ temps...much better!! The warmest we saw today was 99*.
We drove up a 2 lane windy Highway 33 for the first part, up over Pine Mountain. It was really beautiful. We stopped and bought peaches from an old lady selling them from her yard and they were delicious. We saw all kinds of produce growing, grapes, oranges, lemons. and even pistachio trees. We stopped and bought some pistachios right from the farm. The last portion of the drive was on I5, lots of traffic but all moving at a good clip. We hit Sacramento at rush hour but no problems just a lot of fast driving.
The boys are swimming in the pool, it is a perfect 80*, and I can see the sun setting in the distance, it is pretty, the smog in this state really brings out the colors...
Mom and Dad are in Oklahoma City. They were at a bar for karaoke when I talked with them...Mom was the only singer!! She should get her fill in the spotlight I guess:)
Tomorrow we continue north and head back west to the coast.
